Important Safety Warning
This guide is for educational purposes only. Making RSO at home involves flammable solvents and requires proper ventilation, fire safety equipment, and legal compliance. We strongly recommend purchasing professionally made, lab-tested RSO instead.
The Original Rick Simpson Method
Rick Simpson developed his extraction method in 2003 using isopropyl alcohol. The basic process involves dissolving cannabis in alcohol, then evaporating the solvent to leave behind concentrated oil.
Decarboxylation
Heat cannabis at 240°F for 40 minutes to activate cannabinoids.
Solvent Wash
Submerge material in food-grade ethanol and agitate for 3-5 minutes.
Filter & Evaporate
Strain the liquid and slowly evaporate the solvent using a rice cooker or double boiler OUTDOORS.
Collect
Once solvent is fully evaporated, collect the thick oil into syringes for storage.
